To what lenght do we go for something that we are extremely passionate about? Well, most of us that want something bad, we strive through anything…blood, sweat and tears. In this case, Klown was back at the shop to do yet another tremendous tattoo. After going strong for over ten hours, Klown’s client powered through without complaint, even when there was a power outage in the entire block for the last half hour of tattoo. In order to finish up, we referred to a rather unorthodox method. We opened up the doors to the shop and drove Gustavo Lopez’s car inside in order to run it as a generator for Klown’s equipment because there was no sign of quitting from Klown nor his client. It was quite a night.
Even with a limited amount of lighting, Klown did what he does best.
Although the power was out, everyone hung around like any other day. We enjoyed each other’s company eventhough it was a little hard to see inside the shop.
Shout out to the homie Shorty.

Helios, The Titan of the East, is of Greek mythology and was imagined as a god crowned with the shining aureole of the sun, who drove the chariot of the sun each day with his solar steeds Pyrois, Aeos, Aethon, and Phlegon. So when Jose was asked to do this piece, he became extatic. As a fan of Greek mythology, Jose found the perfect reference for his clients’ tattoo. Since his client had previous pieces done with night imagery such as the moon with a landscape on his other shoulder, he felt that something that illustrated the sun was a perfect fit for his new tattoo…kind of like a Ying and Yang representation. Take a look.
Another piece that was that came to light was one that was done on our good friend Cesar. It’s part of an ongoing full sleeve that is yet to be finished. Here’s a sneak peek.
More to come.

Pablo, The 27 year old native of Oceanside, CA, gets his artistic skills from his mother who is a talented painter and all around artist. He’s been drawing since he could pick up a pencil but really started dedicating his full time and effort for the last 5 years. He’s been learnings from Klown for the last year and has no plans to stop. Here is some of his pencil drawings for you to admire.
He also came to Jose bearing gifts.

“The simplest things are often the truest.” – Richard Bach
Our good friend Kris, the creative director for Dior Homme, came back in to get another tattoo from Jose off of a remarkable photo taken by Robert Mapplethorpe. Take a look.
Another piece was added to Mark Osuna’s collection of Jose Lopez tattoos. This time, he went with a classic OG Abel piece on his hand that justified the original work.
There is more to come. Stand By.
