QUALITY NOT QUANTITY.

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

When we refer to tattooing as a way of life……we mean it. In Barcelona we get another chance to live out this culture with friends, family and artists from around the globe. And as the general public revisits this showcase during a time where the industry is in just as much of a transition as the economy, the work is still in constant motion. But regardless of the place, time, and conditions we never trade the passion for glory—depend on nothing.

spain_lt5

Abey all day. A veteran to showcases, the big homey has been on a mission since day one.

spain_lt2

Spain is Miguel’s first rodeo. And the outcome was one strong piece after another.

spain_lt3

Jose doing the job like the mob. When clients come in, they come in deep.

A piece done earlier by Jose on a client  who began his lower leg calf.

spain_lt1

A dedicated collector Janche repping the homies of D y D Lowrider of Barcelona, came through to dedicate a piece for the love and beauty of his wife.

spain_lt

Lower right sleeve. A big thanks to Janche and the brothers of D & D for their support.

spain_lt7

And speaking of beauty, meet Mariana. She’s a prime example of every other women in Spain.

spain_lt61

And we can’t forget the kids—it’s all about the kids.

spain_lt8

On the other side of the booths, Miguel and the family of V tattoos were holding it down strong all weekend. With 6 years of experience, Miguel is blasting his way to success–literally. Piece after piece, Miguel delivers strong, sizable pieces. Keep a look out for their visit to the shop in coming months.

spain_lt10

And speaking of success, our good friend Jess Yen of My Tattoo was just around the corner.

spain_lt21

Hard at work…

spain_lt9

Moving right along, our good friends from East Tattoos of Taiwan kept us on our toes since last year. And our relationship grew even stronger here in Spain. There’s few who can make jaws drop as wide as the studio master Yang.

spain_lt11

Yep.

spain_lt12

Months to years of dedication comes along with this level of work. So when Jose and Yang came together they both had the same question for each other, “……So…. when do you sleep?”

spain_lt25

Amazingly, a special someone had the honor of getting a piece by the man himself. Mrs. Lopez was in the house to work her upper right sleeve. Oh and by the way, did we mention Yang has one….

spain_lt24

Like we said, way of life, depend on nothing!

spain_lt23

And to wrap it up, the fellas hit the stage.

spain_lt191

Not sure if Many here is showing his collection or his 7 month old baby he’s been trying to give birth to for the past four years….

spain_lt131

It was probably the collection.

spainshowlt11

spain_lt16

Verdict: Lowrider Tattoo Studios~Best Black n Grey, East Tattoos~Best Tattoo of the Day

spain_lt14

Mark took home an award for his collection as well-but for some reason his trophy looked a lot better then everyone else’s.

spain_lt22

A final thank you to all the good people of Barcelona Spain. It’s been another humbling and fulfilling experience, keep moving.

THE BEGINNING OF PROGRESSION

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Life is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Most fail. Some work. You do more of what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then you do something else. The trick is the doing the something else.” – Leonardo da Vinci

app1

The start of progression is picking up a pen, pencil, paintbrush, whatever that medium maybe and let your hand, your mind, and your heart free. In art we interpret our styles, our way of thinking into many artforms and with such finesse the audience is captured by a spectacle that not everyone can construct.

app2

In life we create, we maintain our natural talents. Our talent is worthless unless we have ambition; ambition to strive to the next level, to make change, to conquer each step and learn to run.

app3

Drawing is where we start. In your mind you see certain images, people, buildings, inanimate objects, etc. that you subcontiously save and all these images come out in a way that every artist feels is appropriate and has a sense of accomplishment even if it is fulfilled for a moment or a lifetime.

app4

We learn what works, we make mistakes and we try to perfect it. If there was perfection you wouldnt have aspiration and without perfection you have faith in your works to become great. You follow the ones who are considered “Great Artists” and you learn from them. You learn what has failed and what has worked. You, yourself need to find that “something else”, that gives you a step ahead that makes you one of the “Great Artists”.
