Saturday night some of the Lowrider family rounded up at the Canvas LA Gallery to come support Pint and Ichibay. We got the pleasure of catching a Live drawing from the two of them and running in to some old friends…

It was also the book releases for both artists, as well as world-renowned Japanese tattoo artist SHIGE…3 releases from 3 amazing artists…We also had the chance to check out some of the work from the last show displayed by Norm from Spotlight Tattoo…

We got our own copy from Pint, it’s strong and solid. An inspirational collection of years of refinement and personal technique. If you get a chance pick up a copy for yourself…

Another great, Pepe Aguilar, who inspires many though a different form of art showed his appreciation for ours. I’m happy we were able to get out, it was a good time, but most importantly it was inspiring…

SHIT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PARTY NAKED

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Michael came in yesterday to get some follow up work on his leg…The piece required him to cut slits through his underwear to get to the hard to reach areas…A tattoo that takes dedication and tolerance, he took it well. But inevitably, no one could ignore the almost naked dude in the room…

Sometimes a little sacrifice and embarrassment pays off in the end, unfortunately…Michael has got one more session left…

THE HOMIES

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I had a good time the last couple of days.  A few of my old friends stopped by to get work. Some to continue on projects and some to start a new…My boy Jun came by for a touch up…

shawns-homie1

This was one of those tattoos that require a lil more attention since it had so much detail. But after a few sessions it will be worth all the while…

brett-from-denver1

Now the homie Brett is a laid back dude, with his own ideas and perspectives it was fun to spend the day with him.  I’ll be seeing him back pretty soon. Thanks Brett for taking care of me…

jun-bug

Jun bug now, I cant even begin to tell you about this kid, he’s the shit. It’s always a pleasure to work with him. We have nice talks about so much that goes on…I could not ask for more from my job…

ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Chet Zar, an American artist notable for his dark visual art, make-up effects, and digital animation. He is most widely known for his work with the band Tool’s music and live videos…One of our favorite painters, Chet has brought something new to the macabre arts with his numerous series of works, often commentating on his own aspects of dreams and life…

zar3

Zar’s works vary according to the medium he is using. His interest in art and horror movies led to a career in the motion-picture industry. His contributions to the industry were in the form of sculpture and make-up effects. Zar designed and created prosthetic effects for such movies as The RingPlanet of the Apes, and Darkman…

Check out more of Chet’s work at www.chetzar.com…

We will be introducing a new artist every week to check out, it is important to realize that art and tattooing all come from the same foundation and structure… a huge key to our grand opening in December…Stay posted!
