HOMEWARD BOUND II

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

…After a few days from making it official, construction of the new studio had begun…working literally from the ground up and tearing the building apart to start from scratch…

We had torn out the flooring, the roof, and broke the walls down…revamping everything was necessary to get us only closer.

With only a few days in, our goal to construct this new home by deadline, is more than evident…

LIVIN THE HIGH LIFE

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Our new friend Mark from Milwaukee came in yesterday, a collector in the works, and one quite fond of the fine line black and grays…

2 portraits in one day by Jose Lopez, the first, commemorating his Mother on the back of his arm, a classic face indeed…

…The second, his beautiful bestfriend and dog gracing his forearm…The hours spent to capture the still frames of memories and photos had paid off…the day was complete, but like most people who get tattoos, Mark wanted more…

Today, it was time for Gustavo Lopez to shine some more, Mark asked if he could hook it up on his opposite arm…piece by piece, puzzling his arms together, the brothers’ art meet on Mark’s canvas…

Gustavo took advantage of the prior existing work on Mark…the flow of it all from the two days had made Mark leave with a promise to keep coming back…Thanks again Mark!

HOMEWARD BOUND

Friday, August 28th, 2009

About a month and a half ago, Lowrider Tattoo decided that there needed to be some changes made…nothing too drastic, but basically take some baby steps in evolving…one major change involved the idea of a NEW studio…

One unique space that was old and rundown…had all the potential as we walked through the doors for the first time…

We knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, that it was going to take the help of friends, artists, family, and hard work to put this together, and put it together RIGHT.

With our feet through the door, we knew that it was going to take sometime to hopefully call this our new home…

THE NIGHTS ARE LONGER

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The days that pass seem to get filled with more surprises with each crossing. On Tuesday, we were honored to be in the company of tattoo legends, Gil Monte and Fred Sanders from the show, “Tattoo Nights“.

We were humbled and filled with smiles while Gil conducted an interview with Jose, talking about the present, future, and pass...

INTO ACTION

Friday, August 21st, 2009

With the London Convention just around the corner in September, the artists are getting prepared dishing out tattoos left and right. Working around the clock, long days, and weary nights, preparation is everything at the moment. Ben came in today to finish up his deviant skull design, a nice break from the usual, and a nod to the artists of macabre such as Jeremiah Barba and Paul Booth, this tattoo was flooding down his upper arm…

just a taste of the things to come this month…

I LOVED YOU SO…

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Not too long ago, Ramona had called in to a live radio station and won tickets for her and her sister Sandra to see one of their favorite bands, WAR. Sandra had been diagnosed with cancer and was worn out from her last treatment, but all the while was still excited…

Fast forward almost 3 years…Ramona came in this week to get a memorial tattoo…2 portraits of her sister Sandra gracing her upper back…Under the faces, a quote to her favorite song, “Why did you go, I love you so.”

During the tattoo, we played a memorial CD with numerous songs requested by Sandra to play when she had passed…it was a bittersweet day and one we’ll soon not forget.
