Decades ago, tattoos were known to be taboo. Now, the artform that was once frowned upon is being embraced by the people who you would least expect. Teachers, Doctors, Firemen, City Officials, as well as Police Officers are in and out of the shop on a daily basis. We hear countless numbers of stories about why they are getting their tattoos. Some people receive them because they believe that their body is a canvas and love the artform for what it is-liberating. Others get ink because they want to pay a tribute to a loved one who is no longer with them or still in the present just to show how much they meant and still mean to them. There are also others who enjoy getting tattooed for the thrill of getting a tattoo. Whatever the reason may be, we enjoy having them come experience the artform that we have a passion for.

Tattoos have come a long way. Something, that wasnt even considered an artform is now a thriving industry and people are finally starting to give the artists recognition for the countless minutes, months, and even years spent on trying to be an inovator by reaching new heights. Women are now being adorned by beautiful pieces which include but are not limited to Flowers, their children’s names and angels allowing them to feel more comfortable in their skin.

Religious tattoos are in demand everywhere and we are inking them like never before. Customers come in from all over the world, especially from the land down under who are lining up to get some ink by the talented artists at Lowrider Tattoo. Australia’s tattoo enthusiasts fly into the shop non stop to get some of the southern california black and gray that many people are exited to get. The piece above is a very popular one with customers who are very religious. We’ve asked some of them what the meaning behind the tattoo is to them and some responded that they like the way it looks. Others believe that God is always with them keeping them safe and they feel him close to their heart.

Besides the religious work, customers are huge fans of women with guns and custom work has been created in order to capture the image that the clients have in their imagination-and we always deliver.

Without the individuals who come in, there is nothing to create. We need your imagination to mix with our style in order for us to construct your ideas and bring them to life.

This is the age of information–today, anything’s possible for any type of individual. But just because opportunity is available for all…….on google, doesn’t mean the ability to put forth the effort, and the quality of the product is the same. Sure, you can buy a nice expensive camera, with specialized lenses and hi tech software to transform it, but that doesn’t necessarily title you as a photographer…..far from it. Photography is an art, and as artists there’s always the vision. The relationship between tattooing and photography is a classic one and go hand in hand with creating dialogue to the viewer through visual means. And because literally anyone or any ‘thing’ can press a button, I think the industry at large has forgotten the value of what quality photography consists of and it’s true gift is. Take a look at what you didn’t see from the past trip to Europe through eye’s of the homey Willie T.

That’s understandable, but what if following one of these actually made a difference in your life? You and only you can and will determine the outcome of your life, so why not start today?

Here at Lowrider, our artists have been working harder than ever to get their work known worldwide. Our apprentices are in the shop day in and day out for countless numbers of hours trying to achieve the goals and dreams that they and the artists in the shop are striding for. Keep an eye out for everyone here as well as other work to come.

The issue isn’t whether or not the situation gives you an advantage or disadvantage. The focus of it all goes beyond survival, and goes beyond circumstances. One of biggest lessons and priceless things about having mentors is the relationship itself and on a daily what the younger generation of artists get to watch here in the studio is the creative process that’s involved to produce the work that you see posted here. The dedicated client Caesar came through to continue his collection with Jose-take a look.

Adaptivity, spontaneity, and fluidity has to be some of the keys to this form of Black N Grey tattooing. Like all visual artists, there’s a constant flow of images that never stop running through our minds-and especially when you’ve put in work for over 17 years of tattooing, that library is going to be pretty full. Nonetheless, that’s one of the reasons why this piece was critical to understand the overall composition and the true solution: simplicity.

Simplicity not just in the piece itself, but simplicity in every aspect of building a body of work and reinventing this form of art. Over the years Jose has seen artists in the multitudes–some come, some go. Some who’ve helped broaden the industry at large, some who’ve struggled to see past the very walls that block them from growing, and the many, many talented.

But that fact is–talent is not enough.

We bring this up because now more then ever tattooing is so open. Tattooing is no longer exclusive to one group of society or subculture. Tattooing is relevant to every class, every race, and every level of infrastructure-worldwide. Tattooing is culture. And as artists who continue to contribute to the culture, this obligates us, and gives of real responsibility to honor the trust of people who are willing to fly across the world to get tattooed.

This same responsibility is applied to not just the images itself, but the minds, hearts, and souls of every individual using a machine. The process is the practice.

Talent comes secondary from that will to continue and take the path that no one has taken-or the path everyone talks about taking. There’s plenty of people who talk about it, who visualize it, but time reveals the hard working silence of those who do it end up breaking all walls. Because growth is priority, everything else is irrelevant, and those focused on the task at hand allow no distractions in moving forward.

So we can stop all the guessing….

stop assuming….

…..and take action.

Once again we are headed to London to attend the biggest tattoo Convention in the entire world. Thanks to our good friend Miki Vialetto we will get another chance to work among the best tattoo artist out there. This will be an unforgettable trip for we will also visit Barcelona to be with our good friend Mik. We envite everybody out there to come and join us for a weekend of laughs and long lasting memories.

BBQ-N-INK

This past Sunday, we started the day off at the shop with a delicious barbecue. We had a packed house with friends and family that came from all over the world. We had our friends in from Denmark, Australia, and Japan enjoying some of the great foods we were grilling. Everyone was having a blast enjoying eachother’s company.

Once we had a bite to eat, we got back into tattooing mode. Luckily our boy “Danger,” or as he was known that weekend, “The Grill Man,” was here spreading some cheer and entertaining our good friends.

The Shop apprentices were amazed with the pieces that were done. They were watching Jose carefully without blinking for a single moment so they could capture every single technique he was using.

Here’s another inspiration by the enigmatic Pint. He inspires many of us at the shop and people who don’t know about him leave the shop with amazement after we show them his stunning work. This will not be the last piece you’ll see us do that’s truly inspired by him.

Our boy Bobby from Tribal was in the house for some work as well. He came in asking for an angel with a cross and Jose delivered. The process was long and agonizing but Bobby took it like a champ. It was our esteemed pleasure to have him here and are very honored to have him sport Lowrider ink.
