We took a stroll over to visit friends at the recent Hollywood convention off of Highland. Take a look.

The brothers Abey, and Klown hard at work representing the LT family ……

You might recognize some of his work in the recent Tattoo Life issue…..

And Klown, always holds it down. Take a look at a recent piece he worked on Jeff~Blood Hound Irons below.

Right next door, it’s story time with Jack Rudy.

Moving along–the great Chuey stands unmoved……

Here’s a glimpse at a masterpiece in the works….

Then you have the photogenic tough guys….

Out of the corner of my eye I recognize somebody….

Big pops Baby Ray is posted with Oliver Peck showing off a recent illustration.

“IT IS WHAT IT IS” ~~( left side of skull )……….Yep

And finally, the spoils of war—the LT family takes the precious metals back home to add to the collection.

Look forward, more to come.

GET IT ON FILM.
Monday, August 16th, 2010
This is the age of information–today, anything’s possible for any type of individual. But just because opportunity is available for all…….on google, doesn’t mean the ability to put forth the effort, and the quality of the product is the same. Sure, you can buy a nice expensive camera, with specialized lenses and hi tech software to transform it, but that doesn’t necessarily title you as a photographer…..far from it. Photography is an art, and as artists there’s always the vision. The relationship between tattooing and photography is a classic one and go hand in hand with creating dialogue to the viewer through visual means. And because literally anyone or any ‘thing’ can press a button, I think the industry at large has forgotten the value of what quality photography consists of and it’s true gift is. Take a look at what you didn’t see from the past trip to Europe through eye’s of the homey Willie T.

CREATION OF MEN.
Thursday, August 5th, 2010
“At the critical moment, the leader of an army acts like one who has climbed up a height and then kicks away the ladder behind him. He carries his men deep into hostile territory before he shows his hand. He burns his boats and breaks his cooking-pots; like a shepherd driving a flock of sheep, he drives his men this way and that, and nothing knows whither he is going. To muster his host and bring it into danger, this is termed the business of the general.” ~Sun Tzu c. 544—496 BC.

The issue isn’t whether or not the situation gives you an advantage or disadvantage. The focus of it all goes beyond survival, and goes beyond circumstances. One of biggest lessons and priceless things about having mentors is the relationship itself and on a daily what the younger generation of artists get to watch here in the studio is the creative process that’s involved to produce the work that you see posted here. The dedicated client Caesar came through to continue his collection with Jose-take a look.

Adaptivity, spontaneity, and fluidity has to be some of the keys to this form of Black N Grey tattooing. Like all visual artists, there’s a constant flow of images that never stop running through our minds-and especially when you’ve put in work for over 17 years of tattooing, that library is going to be pretty full. Nonetheless, that’s one of the reasons why this piece was critical to understand the overall composition and the true solution: simplicity.

Simplicity not just in the piece itself, but simplicity in every aspect of building a body of work and reinventing this form of art. Over the years Jose has seen artists in the multitudes–some come, some go. Some who’ve helped broaden the industry at large, some who’ve struggled to see past the very walls that block them from growing, and the many, many talented.

But that fact is–talent is not enough.

We bring this up because now more then ever tattooing is so open. Tattooing is no longer exclusive to one group of society or subculture. Tattooing is relevant to every class, every race, and every level of infrastructure-worldwide. Tattooing is culture. And as artists who continue to contribute to the culture, this obligates us, and gives of real responsibility to honor the trust of people who are willing to fly across the world to get tattooed.

This same responsibility is applied to not just the images itself, but the minds, hearts, and souls of every individual using a machine. The process is the practice.

Talent comes secondary from that will to continue and take the path that no one has taken-or the path everyone talks about taking. There’s plenty of people who talk about it, who visualize it, but time reveals the hard working silence of those who do it end up breaking all walls. Because growth is priority, everything else is irrelevant, and those focused on the task at hand allow no distractions in moving forward.

So we can stop all the guessing….

stop assuming….

…..and take action.

PASS THE MIDNIGHT HOUR
Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
The last several weeks have been a busy road for all of us here at the studios. With Jose and the crew traveling to Amsterdam and the Ink ‘n’ Iron Convention being held down by Klown, Abey, and Laura Santana…there has been barely a moment of rest for all the artists…As the saying goes, the days are long but the nights are longer, this has been more then evident with Lowrider Tattoo of Orange artists, Don Laing and Adam V…

Custom skull by Adam V
The late nights are paying off for the two…allowing them more time to push their pieces the extra mile, constantly learning and adding knowledge to every work produced…

Don Laing putting in some of his extra emphasis on some script.
A natural technician, Don takes his time with every step and line . Never a compromiser of his work, don’t expect him ever to give you less than 100%. The most dangerous an artist can be, is when he realizes when and where he can pull off a piece of work well with full confidence, and Don is no exception to this opinion…Always producing clean and tight work…

A rendition on mythology’s Andromeda, Amber’s first session with Adam V.
No rest for the wicked, and no time to spare…Adam’s drive has been the need and want to consistently learn from others and as well his own…constantly in search to push his pieces further up a notch…with every piece he tries to sincerely prove he will not wait in line…Never afraid to do something different, his production of work has grabbed the attention of many and will not stop…

A precise and cleanly done tiger by Don Laing.
Keep a look out for these new up and comers, burning the clock tattooing in constant passion and style, stay tuned!

TEENAGE WASTELAND
Sunday, February 7th, 2010
Last Weekend, United Boardshop of Anaheim, CA and one of our good friends and fine artist Brendan Waegner put together one hell of a wild art show…Live bands, live painting, skate demos in their huge indoor park, the famous Koji Taco truck and an upstairs bar for the grown-ups…All in the name of supporting United, a wide variety of up and coming artists took gallery stage, ranging from fine art, graffiti, lowbrow, and tattoo. The show featured Lowrider Tattoo artists Adam V, Roland Temores, and apprentice JD Rodriguez…also in attendance and on display were Ron Pete, Vance Freeman, David Birch, and many other talented, young, and hungry artists…

Thanks again to everyone who showed up and made the show a success!!
